PostHeaderIcon snow day

We had a major blizzard here in South Carolina this week. Well…. maybe not technically a blizzard, but it was a lot of snow for us. If you live in the South, you know that at least half the fun is the anticipation & preparation of the big event (which usually ends up being a nonevent), and the other half is just wandering around in pure amazement at the beauty of the snow. Most of friends on Facebook – yes, I admit that I am a Crackbook addict – have changed their profile pictures to now show pictures of their kids in full winter weather regalia or pictures of their homes covered in a blanket of snow. I, of course, am no exception. My two little rascals are now proudly pictured in my profile. You might not actually know they are my rascals since you can only see a very small portion of their faces, but they are mine. Squeals of joy, glorious laughing and flying snowballs were found all over the South earlier this week and boy was it fun! I spent most of Monday at a Snow Party (thanks, Katie!) discussing whether school would again be cancelled on Tuesday ( it was and the news was welcomed by groans from the parents and loud cheering from the kids), wondering how people up North keep their kids dry in snow, and sharing some good ole Southern fellowship with each other. We had to wait two years and until March to get our little taste of Snow, but it was well worth it!

What truly warms my heart (and quite literally will) is that it will be in the 70’s this weekend. You have to love the South! All the snow, partially melted snowpeople, crusty ice and wet mittens will be gone or packed away and we will have to content ourselves with our precious memories of those few days of Winter. And if we can’t recall our memories, well… we always have our Facebook profile pictures to remind us.

I for one am ready for SPRING!!!!!

PostHeaderIcon handmade goodies from KnitStorm

ipodpink-cozytea-cozy

I love etsy! There is such a luscious lot of beautiful, handcrafted goodies to peruse and purchase. One of my favorites is Kate at KnitStorm. She makes the most adorable hand knit & crocheted items, but I especially love her crocheted little tea cozies. Not only are they totally affordable (under $15) but the shipping is beyond reasonable and fast. I think they are a wonderful way to complement a hot cup of tea on a cold morning. Perfectly cozy and handmade.

I also fell in love with her knitted IPod socks. This Belle will be sporting a little hot pink number on her IPod but Kate has several other colors available. She also has an ecofriendly housewares shop that has crocheted cleaning cloths and little makeup removal pads. My friend Jen gave me a few crocheted washcloths that her Grandmother had made and I love them! If you don’t have a friend with a Grandmother that crochets and that likes to share, you can get yours from KnitStorm. Thanks, Kate!
